About Us

Set up by Helen Chandler 10 years ago, HCA Business Support Services has many years’ experience in working with small and medium-sized businesses across West Berkshire, South Oxfordshire and beyond. An established and trusted name for bookkeeping and office services, we have a diverse client base, in particular working closely with the racehorse industry in providing them with business support services.

Based near Newbury West Berkshire, HCA is a member of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers and is run by Helen and her partner Chris Lay. In recent years, the business has gone from strength to strength. What was once a small bookkeeping practice is now a company offering a range of professional support services to assist clients with the smooth day-to-day running of their businesses.

It was in the first years of running HCA that Helen realised there were other business services that her clients required. But they were looking for a trustworthy source with the minimum of hassle. So Helen took this idea and set out to expand HCA into the area of business support services, establishing a one-stop-shop offering clients a variety of highly flexible options.

Chris Lay joined HCA in 2008 with extensive experience in IT. He now focuses on ensuring clients’ IT systems run smoothly and securely. From anti-virus software to network support, backup systems to Virtual Office and telephone answering services, Chris can devise a tailor-made support package for your business.

Helen Helen has many years accounting and management experience working in small and medium sized companies. She also worked for Griffins Chartered Accountants for a number of years prior to setting up HCA and is a qualified member of The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers. Her focus is on supporting her team in providing the very best services to our valued clients. In addition she oversees marketing and business planning.  Helen enjoys travel and entertaining.

Chris Chris supports HCA and its clients with IT management & planning. He is keen to set up businesses with the IT equipment and software systems required for the day to day running of an organisation. In addition he plans the setting up of HCA’S virtual office and telephone systems for our virtual office services. He also advises on the web design and advertising requirements for HCA and our clients. Chris loves travel, live music and is a keen gardener.

Debbie Debbie has now achieved her AAT qualification and now has responsibility for a portfolio of accounts. She is our book keeping trouble shooting guru and is available to answer Sage, Xero and Excel Accounting queries. Outside of work you can find Debbie at the gym or spending time with her family and friends.
